Plan Objectives and Action Plans
There are seven objectives that are intended to be met by this project

Address scattered vacant buildings

Provide a range of decent, safe and affordable opportunities
Rehabilitate existing housing and other developments in the community

Provide adequate community services and infrastructure to the community

Improve the City's redevelopment co-ordination capability
Strengthen the tax base
Enhance the aesthetics of the Community

The following are the five proposed actions that the Smith Village Urban Renewal Plan will take.

Acquire scattered lots and develop them
Acquire vacant deteriorated dwellings and rehab or remove them
Rehabilitate existing properties through financing provided by property owners private lenders and state/federal grants
Upgrade neighborhood public improvements including street lights parks, sidewalks curbs and utilities
Coordinate the use of governmental assistance funds
