Project Specifics

Kettering University has a long history of improving their facilities. Currently the university is focusing on six major categories of development.
Academic Building

In 1999-2000, Kettering University received, through a generous donation, a building adjacent to the Kettering University campus. The university plans to convert this building for use as a state-of-the-art laboratory facility.  But to complete this ambitious plan, the university requires significant external investment.

Chemistry Laboratory Today, Kettering’s chemistry program is housed within 12,200 sq. ft. of floor space on the second floor of the Academic Building. The new laboratory facility, which will be housed on the new third floor of the renovated building, will provide more than double the space currently available.

Mechanical Engineering Laboratory The present mechanical engineering program is housed within 38,368 sq. ft. of floor space on first, second and third floors of the Academic Building and on the first floor of the Campus Center. The new laboratory facility will increase the available space to 47,635 sq. ft.. This expansion will increase the available space by 25 percent.

Automotive Engineering Laboratory The current automotive laboratories are housed within 8,832 sq. ft. of the Academic Building’s first floor. The projected space requirement for the laboratories is 32,768 sq. ft. within the new laboratory facility, nearly three times the current space available.

Recreational Facilities Construction for Kettering Park began in Fall 2000. This park, which is located on the campus between the Recreation Center and the Flint River sits on 25 acres, and will add significantly to the university.  The project includes soccer fields, golf chipping boxes, sand volleyball, tennis and basketball courts, jogging path, picnic pavilion and landscaping.
