Outside Factors Critical to the Continued Success of Kettering University

Dilapidated housing stock north and south of Third Avenue from Chevrolet Street to Carriage Town is in need of repair.  Kettering and Flint West Village C.D.C., along with General Motors and several neighboring institutions, have cleared more than 80 housing structures in this area.  Still, there is a dramatic need to demolish scores of abandoned houses that serve as havens for drug dealers and other illegal activity.  Mott Park Community is still a gem in Flint but its survival is seriously threatened by the encroachment of blight from the east.
