Kearsley Park

Background Information

Kearsley Park, established in 1917,  is a 57-acre park located north of Robert T. Longway east of I-475 in the City of Flint.  Gilkey Creek flows through the middle of the park, which places much of the park within the 100-year floodplain.  The park lies adjacent to Dayton Park which includes an additional eight acres of land. The parks are separated by I-475.  Like Central Park in New York City, Kearsley Park provides a beautiful natural setting in the middle of an urban environment. In 1996, the Flint Parks and Recreation Department and Mott Community College had discussions, with additional public input, that led to the plan to improve Kearsley Park.
