GFAC has already made major renovations to the
first floor of their existing building. These renovations saved an
historic building in the downtown area that had been decimated by fire and
slated for demolition. At one time this building was home to the
Vernors Soda Pop company. It is hard to find any longtime residence of
Flint that have not seen the mural depicting the elves rolling barrels of
Vernors Ginger Ale across a landscape and saving this historic building was a triumph
for the Flint area.
These pictures show the completed renovations to the front facade
and rear of the of the GFAC building. The Vernors
mural is visible in the rear building picture.
Pictured here is the current condition of the 2nd floor. A
quick review of the completed 1st floor renovations will illustrate to
the reader the high quality and grand improvements that could be made
to this floor if funding is made available to GFAC.
