Key Issues

The approach is to address several key issues with a focused research effort. Those issues are:

  • What is the market for a renovated Capitol Theatre, in terms of potential audiences, users, and programs?

  • How would a renovated Capitol Theatre fit within the regional inventory of facilities, both in terms of its local competitive positioning and its ability to attract touring programs through programming partnerships with comparable facilities in the region?

  • Will the benefits of a reactivated Capitol Theatre justify the expenditure necessary to renovate the facility?

The success of theatres of any size and shape is often a function of the quality of the management team that can fund and execute effective marketing and programming strategies. The test for the community is: Does the environment necessary for a renovated Capitol Theatre to succeed exist?  Resources, leadership, and community support must be evaluated in this context.
